Digital Longbox and Longbox Reader ("the Apps") are personal comic book management and reading applications. We are strongly committed to user privacy. These Apps are designed to operate primarily on your local device and local home network, and we collect minimal information about our users.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The following categories of data are not collected, stored, or transmitted by our Apps:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information
• Your identity, personal profile, or any information that could identify you as an individual
• Usage patterns, reading history, or app analytics
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Financial information or payment details
• Any account credentials

3. Minimal Data Interactions

3.1 Comic Metadata Matching Service

When the Digital Longbox desktop application attempts to identify a comic book file, it sends a query to our comic metadata matching API service. This query contains only:

• A unique fingerprint (hash) calculated from the comic file, used to identify and match the file without transmitting the file's contents
• Your device's IP address (transmitted as a normal part of any internet request)

Important disclosures regarding this service:

• No personally identifiable information is included in these queries.
• Comic file fingerprints and derived series/issue metadata submitted to the matching service are stored in our matching database to improve comic identification for all users. No user identity, account, or device information is stored alongside this data — only anonymous comic metadata such as series name, issue number, and page count.
• Our hosting provider may maintain standard server access logs at the infrastructure level, as is typical for web hosting services. These logs are subject to their own privacy policy and are not under our direct control. We do not access, analyze, or use these logs.
• IP addresses are not stored in our matching database. Your device's IP address is transmitted as part of the standard internet request but is not retained by our matching service.
• This service is used solely for comic book identification purposes.

3.2 Local Network Communication

When using the server feature in Digital Longbox alongside Longbox Reader mobile apps:

• All communication occurs entirely within your local home network (LAN).
• Data is transmitted using HTTP protocol over your local network.
• No data is routed through external servers or our infrastructure.
• No network traffic from this local communication is visible to us.

3.3 App Store Platforms

When you download our Apps from the App Store, Microsoft Store, or Google Play, those platform providers collect data subject to their own privacy policies (Apple, Microsoft, and Google respectively). We do not receive personally identifiable information from these platform transactions.

4. Your Content Remains Yours

All comic book files you add to the Apps are stored locally on your device or on a device you control on your home network. We have no access to your files, your collection, or any content you manage within the Apps.

5. Children's Privacy

Our Apps are not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

6. Third-Party Services

The Apps do not integrate with social media platforms, third-party advertising networks, or analytics services. The only external network interaction is the optional comic metadata matching service described in Section 3.1.

7. Data Security

Because we collect no personally identifiable data, there is minimal security risk to user data on our end. The comic metadata stored in our matching database is anonymous and contains no information that could identify you. Your comic files and locally stored metadata are subject to the security of your own device and operating system. We recommend using standard device security practices (strong passwords, device encryption, etc.) to protect your local data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications or updates. Your continued use of the Apps after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
